Every Classroom Should Become a Lab

Artificial Intelligence has changed the value of information. Facts are available within seconds. The scarce resource is no longer knowledge. The scarce resource is understanding. Schools must therefore change their purpose. A classroom designed for memorisation belongs to the previous century. The classroom of the future is a laboratory where students observe, experiment, question, build and present. Teachers become mentors rather than lecturers. Students no longer compete to remember the same answer.

They compete to improve the same idea. Suppose every group receives the same problem. One team improves cost. Another improves design. Another improves accessibility. Another improves sustainability. Every student contributes differently.

Industry does not require millions of identical graduates. It requires diverse minds capable of solving different parts of complex problems. Education should therefore produce thinkers, builders, communicators, organisers and researchers—not only examination toppers.

Practical Pilot

Begin with Classes 1–3.

Replace one traditional lesson every week with a "Learning Lab."

Children observe.

Children build.

Children explain.

Children teach one another.

After one year, extend the model to the next grade.

Transformation should move gradually, allowing teachers, parents and students to grow together.
